Qualifications
I have trained as a professional, ante-natal, labour and birth and post-natal doula and can support you whatever your requirements.
I hold a: Professional Doula Award Level 3 endorsed by CACHE (Council for Awards in Children's Care and Education) trained by www.babyonboarddoulas.co.uk
I am fully CRB checked and hold enhanced disclosures for work with mothers, babies and children.
I am fully insured through Holistic Insurance Services and I am registered with FEDANT (Federation of Antenatal Educatiors) "The primary reason for the existence of FEDANT is to protect the public by providing a National Register of validated professionals within the field of Antenatal Education. This provision extends to Antenatal Educators, Breastfeeding Counsellors, Doulas and Complementary Practitioners."
I have completed a certified St John's Ambulance Ofsted Early Years First Aid training course and this will be refreshed and re-certified every three years.
Other Qualifications:
I hold a BSc Geography Degree and until having my children, worked for DEFRA (Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) as an Administration Officer.
I speak good conversational French and working knowledge of German.
At present there is no legal requirement to be qualified as a doula, however for parent's peace of mind, you know that my Professional Doula Award is endorsed by CACHE.
The Professional Doula award is currently the only UK doula qualification endorsed by CACHE and Baby on Board Doulas have worked hard to pioneer the first officially recognised national qualification.
*Obviously I would love to be your doula but you as parents need to know you feel comfortable with your hired doula. Perhaps think of questions to ask your doula at an interview, such as her training, about her view to different births and her own births, whether there's a contract to sign, how and when do you pay her and any others you might think helpful.
