Welcome to Doula for You
My name is Lucie Platt, I am married to Chris and have two lovely children who are seven and four. I live in Oundle, Northamptonshire and cover the surrounding areas approximately up to 20 miles from Oundle, and can accompany you in labour at Peterborough, Hinchingbrooke and Kettering hospitals or at your home if you are having a home birth.
I love babies and children and can support you through pregnancy, labour and birth and afterwards in the post-natal period; helping to bring a sense of normality to your home at a time when chaos often prevails!
Following the two very different birth experiences of my own children and already being a breast feeding peer supporter, I knew I wanted to be able to offer families emotional and practical support before, during and after the birth of their baby and that is why I trained to be a doula.
Pregnancy, birth and the time following birth are an amazing time and research shows that having a professional childbirth assistant with you for one-to-one care can dramatically reduce time in labour and also reduce the need for instrumental intervention and opiate pain relief, as well as reducing the chance of having a caesarean section. By hiring a doula, you can have that valuable, extra support at a time when you need it most and afterwards, you can take a few hours to relax and enjoy getting to know your little one whilst your doula looks after you and your family until you're back on your feet.
I have gained the Professional Doula Award Level 3 endorsed by CACHE (Coucil for Awards in Children's Care and Education) with www.babyonboarddoulas.co.uk
